Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Packaging Development & Procurement Manager to lead packaging innovation, vendor development, packaging material sourcing, procurement operations, and supply chain coordination across our Personal Care, Cosmetics, Nutraceutical, and Pharmaceutical product portfolios.
The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in packaging materials, vendor management, cost optimization, packaging development, artwork coordination, and supply chain planning while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging Development
- Lead end-to-end packaging development for New Product Development (NPD) and existing product improvements.
- Develop and source primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials including:
. Bottles
. Jars
. Tubes
. Pumps
. Caps & Closures
. Labels
. Mono Cartons
. Shippers & Corrugated Boxes
. Sachets & Pouches - Evaluate packaging compatibility, stability, functionality, and aesthetics.
- Coordinate packaging trials, line trials, and packaging feasibility studies.
- Drive packaging innovation and sustainable packaging initiatives.
- Support product commercialization through timely packaging readiness.
Procurement & Vendor Development
- Manage procurement of packaging materials and related consumables.
- Identify, qualify, develop, and onboard new packaging vendors.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, lead times, and supply agreements.
- Build strategic supplier partnerships to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Conduct vendor performance evaluations and periodic reviews.
- Develop alternate sources to mitigate supply risks.
Cost Optimization
- Drive packaging cost reduction initiatives through:
. Material optimization
. Alternate sourcing
. Design improvements
. Vendor negotiations - Analyze packaging costs and recommend value engineering opportunities.
- Achieve annual procurement savings targets without compromising quality.
Artwork & Packaging Compliance
- Coordinate with Marketing, Regulatory, QA, and Design teams for packaging artwork development and approvals.
- Ensure packaging materials comply with applicable cosmetic, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical regulations.
- Maintain packaging specifications, BOMs, technical drawings, and artwork records.
Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate with Production Planning and Inventory teams to ensure timely availability of packaging materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock holding.
- Coordinate deliveries with manufacturing sites, warehouses, and third-party manufacturers.
- Support demand planning and procurement forecasting activities.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Work closely with QA and QC teams for material approvals and vendor qualification.
- Ensure all packaging materials meet approved specifications and quality standards.
- Participate in supplier audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support GMP, ISO, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualification
- PG Diploma in Packaging Technology / Packaging Science (Preferred)
- B.Sc., B.Tech, BE, Pharmacy, Plastics Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or related discipline
Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in Packaging Development, Procurement, and Supply Chain.
- Experience in Personal Care, Nutraceutical, FMCG, Herbal Products, or Pharmaceutical industries.
- Hands-on experience with packaging materials including plastics, glass, laminates, labels, cartons, and corrugated packaging.
